Thank you all -- the 6th Annual One Love Festival was a great success!

Held on October 22, 2011, the day began with a full turnout for the "The Spirituality of Nonviolence" workshop and a drum circle jam led by Arthur Lopez of Virginia World Rhythms Drum Circles. Then Bob Young and Jack Callan led the open-mic "Speak Your Peace" program, attended by a room full of listeners, speakers, and some having dinner as well, lending a dinner-club coffee-house feel for the event. (Next year we may even get a coffee sponsor.) The evening Peace Concert featured a variety of acts, and there was a lot of audience participation too!

Many fine items donated to the silent auction found a home with happy bidders. The silent auction is a big component of the festival, helping us to continue to offer free admission year after year. (Start thinking about items you may wish to contribute next year.) With everyone's help (and the addition of the "Debeard Whit" campaign), we collected over 100 pounds of food and over $450 for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.

Thank you all for a day of community peacebuilding: a day of fun making new friends, learning new things and learning about each other, and discovering more about the world and how we can work to make it a peaceful place.

Stay tuned for more pictures and postings, visit our Facebook page, and we hope to see you next year!
